More Downtown Adventures!
So, in the last week or two Jen and I have been very busy with a few things: we started Spanish classes again; we're hosting John and Isabelle Balzer (retired couple from Abbotsford whose condo we stayed in last fall); and we're helping Trever and Joan's niece Dania make a video of Mexico and our ministry here. So, this has required a few trips downtown...something I always love doing!
On one of our treks downtown with Dania, we happened upon the "flag ceremony" that they are doing every evening (lowering the flag) and every morning (raising it), until Independence Day (Sept. 16).
After the ceremony we met some of the "band"...they are part of the State Police, and they were playing during the ceremony. They were more than excited to chat with us. Especially this guy...although we had to wait for him to put on the shades before the picture could be taken.
Then we went another day with John and Isabelle Balzer, to show them the sites. Here's a shot of the main downtown plaza.
And in case you haven't believed me so far about the rain situation here...we got caught in a torrential downpour, and had to take refuge in the main Catholic Cathedral!! This is a picture of Dania which I really like, of her enjoying the rain just outside the church.
And we enjoyed the service together with these nuns!
And once the rain slowed a little bit, we tried making it a few blocks to catch our bus.
This is when umbrellas don't help very much!!
And here's the happy gang waiting for the bus: Jen, Dania, and John and Isabelle Balzer. I was SO impressed by their great attitude with frollicking through the rain to catch our bus!!

I too am impressed. One would say they have a lot of... um, oops, maybe not on a missionaries site. Anyways, I love the photo of the three of you walking in the water. It's so perfect with the two black umbrellas. Nice shot sis!
Dania outside the cathedral is a good shot too, man it looks like something awesome is always happening downtown. Do they have parades honoring parades?
Parades honoring parades...that's good! And almost believable here in Mexico! What can I say...Mexicans love to party! And they are proud of their culture and their Independence Day!
