La Cucaracha

One of the adjustments to life in Mexico is learning to live with cockroaches. I've never been really bothered by insects (birds and rodents are much, much worse, with their little claws and their beady eyes!!!), and at first the cockroaches didn't bother me too much. Just a sign of living in a warmer climate:)

However, after a year of opening cupboards and seeing them scurry off into dark corners, and then finally finding them in the fridge of all places!!!! It was time to do something. It seems like a humbling thing to have to call the fumigator in...like we keep a dirty house or something!! But, we've since realized that it's quite normal around here...and humbling or not, it's well worth the money!

Say goodbye to these guys!!! To be honest, most of our cockroaches haven't been this big. This one was special!
Jen and I have reclaimed our apartment, and it feels good!! So, feel free to come down and visit...don't worry...they're gone...at least for now:)

That one was special b/c I was there!! So... how long are you supposed to be free of those suckers while livin' in an apartment complex?

I was thinking the same thing as Melissa. You say it was well worth the money but how soon will they be back?! :o)

The guy "guarantees" 6 months...so, we'll see what happens. Apparently it's very common to have to fumigate every 6 months. And that one WAS special...I should have noted that Melissa was the photographer of that particular cockroach

Just in time for our family to come visit and stay with you! Awesome... you guys are so thoughtful! 2 of my 3 kids don't mind bugs, will catch them for pets. But our youngest screams bloody murder if a fly lands on her... so we're working with her on that! Can't wait to come in July!
